When I was young and impressionable
It seemed worth my attentionable
Buy a toy plane, save up from chores
I was dead set on that toy jet

I worked on the floors
I washed the dishes
I cleaned the bathroom
I even tidied my room

Weeks went by and my pennies stacked high
I felt king of the world as wealth did grow
In my good humor classmates even said, “hi!”
So into that toy store I finally did go

I walked through the doors
I went to the aisle
I picked out that plane
And left with a smile

But outside it rained a terrible mess
And just by the door, I slipped on a dress
The plane left my hands and landed in the street
A car ran it over, and it started to sleet

I cursed all the way home
Punching at everything all the time
And never again had I goals in the world
For that was my ultimate attempt
