Stolen Heritage

from Dust Devil by Nyentek

/

lyrics

Sixty years before they were five percent, and then they came in waves
Thirty years would pass; they would more than triple, buying up the land
Ten more years and twenty percent of native villagers had no land
Hard to fight for your rights when you’ve been colonized

Lands stolen
Customs stolen
Foods stolen
Heritage stolen

Now they’re a minority in their own land
No respect afforded to indigenous peoples
Don’t call it apartheid; it’s not back vs. white
Actually it’s so much worse than in South Africa

Lands stolen
Customs stolen
Foods stolen
Heritage stolen
